I believe in the 70/20/10 model, meaning 70% is learned on-the-job, 20% is learned by informal learning (i.e. learning from colleagues) and 10% is learned during formal learning (i.e. training). So training ís important, but creating an environment in which people feel safe to learn and make mistakes is key.
Providing training for your people allow them to take some distance from their day2day activities. This creates the opportunity to be open for different perspectives and gather new insights. I believe it is good practice to have everyone spend some days per year dedicated to training.
